Communications Coordinator

Starting rate for this position is $25-$30 per hour. Perfect for someone with 5+ years of experience.

Formidable may be located in Edmonton but we help companies around the globe to do impossibly cool things and we are looking for a passionate communicator who loves getting their hands dirty. From strategy to implementation, the ideal candidate will know how to plan and execute all kinds of communication efforts.

Requirements and Skills

Okay, you’re still here! That means you think like us. These are the things you’ll need to kick ass in this role:

  • A degree or diploma in communications, public relations, or marketing and five years of experience in the field

  • A desire to come into the office. We love to work from home in our PJs too, but at least twice a week we like to see each other’s faces IRL. We do work virtually A LOT, so knowing how to collaborate and stay connected is a key skill.

  • Must be technology and software-versed. Both us and our clients use a multitude of tech to get the job done, so knowing how to use Google Workspaces, MS Teams, project management tools, MailChimp, Canva, Adobe products, and various social media management software will be helpful (or at least have the eagerness to learn!)

  • Collecting and analyzing data is our cardio. Don’t be afraid to flex your data muscles when chatting with us.

  • Superb writing skills. Each day we do a ton of writing (creative and technical) and a big part of this position will be writing copy in all forms. Must know Canadian Press.

  • Social media knowledge is a must. Knowing best practices, automation tools, community moderation, content development, trends, and engagement tactics will be key.

  • You have experience with client relations and managing projects.

  • Highly detail-oriented and able to juggle multiple tasks at once.

  • Knowing that developing SMART goals and killer strategies are just as important as implementing tactics.

What you’ll be doing

We have a ton of fun projects on the go and you will be helping with:

  • Crafting and implementing communications strategies

  • Copywriting for digital platforms (websites, newsletters, collaterals)

  • Social media content creation and community management

  • Collecting and analyzing data for evaluation reporting

  • Event planning and on-location support

  • Media relations

  • Project coordination

  • Supporting internal communications and change management projects
